Our apprenticeship program
There’s never been a better time to be in energy, or a better time to be at Endeavour Energy.
More than 2.7 million people across New South Wales rely on us to supply safe and reliable power to their homes and businesses every day.
We employ more than 1,700 people, making us one of Greater Western Sydney’s largest employers. We need talented people who care about one another and the work we do. Why? Because we’re one of Australia's fastest growing energy networks, connecting 20,000 new customers each year, including the Western Sydney Aerotropolis. When we Power Together, we go further, faster -towards a smarter, more sustainable future for us all.
Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We know that fostering a diverse, inclusive, and flexible workforce is the key to providing an affordable, safe, reliable, and sustainable service for our customers and the communities we serve, now and in the future.
In 2024, we’re excited to be offering Electrical and Motor Mechanic apprenticeships.
Our electrical apprentices are based at our state-of-the-art Technical Training Centre at Prestons in Western Sydney. You will complete field placements in a variety of locations and roles, enabling you to learn from highly skilled and experienced tradespeople. By participating in job rotations, you will gain hands-on experience alongside specialised workers, in various areas including Substations, Field Service Centres and System Operations.
Our dual trade electrical apprenticeships are available in two streams:
- Electrotechnology Electrician – studying towards a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and Certificate IV in Electricity Supply Industry - Substations
- Distribution Powerline Worker – studying towards a Certificate III in Electricity Supply Industry - Distribution Overhead and Certificate III in Electricity Supply Industry - Distribution Underground.
You will work outdoors, in all weather conditions across the Endeavour Energy Network Area.
When working underground, you will install, repair, and maintain underground cabling infrastructure. When working at heights, you will install and maintain overhead electrical equipment. You will also construct and maintain substations and switchgear, diagnosing and rectifying faults. With the transformation to a modern grid, there are opportunities to be involved in commissioning new smart energy and automation technology to integrate distributed energy sources.
At Endeavour Energy, our team of mechanics work with specialised plant equipment including Elevated Work Platforms (EWP's), Lifter-borers, vehicle mounted cranes, forklifts, and a diverse range of heavy and commercial vehicles.
As an apprentice mechanic, you will learn from industry experts while you work towards your Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. You will maintain and repair the specialised vehicles that our field crew use to undertake essential work on our electricity network and gain expertise in inspecting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing our extensive vehicle fleet.
You will primarily work from one of our mechanic workshops but will also be required to provide assistance in handling on-site breakdowns and repairs.
A motor mechanic apprenticeship is available in each of the following regions:
- Greater Western Sydney – Bowenfels, Katoomba, and Penrith
- South-West Sydney – Hoxton Park and Narellan
- Western Sydney – Kings Park and Parramatta
Our four-year apprenticeships combine TAFE study and on-the-job practical experience.
The Endeavour Energy apprentice program provides the highest quality development and specialised industry training, payment of all educational fees and expenses along with paid leave to attend TAFE. All tools and equipment are supplied.
You'll join our safe, supportive, and inclusive workforce where your wellbeing is prioritised.

Inclusion and diversity
We want Endeavour Energy to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We strive to foster an inclusive, flexible, and supportive workplace where our people feel respected and supported to grow.
We aim for gender balance in our Apprentice and Graduate intakes. Watch this video to hear about why some of our female employees love working at Endeavour.
We’re also committed to growing our representation of Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islander employees and creating career pathways through our Apprentice program. We’re partnering with TAFE NSW to sponsor the Empower Electrical Apprenticeship Readiness program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Many of our apprentices go on to further employment opportunities at Endeavour. Beyond the trade, some choose to become technical specialists, while others opt for further study and development to move into leadership and engineering positions.
How do I apply?
