Endeavour Energy, one of the largest employers in Sydney's growing Western Sydney, continues to drive best practice support for its employees and their families with industry-leading updates to its Parental Leave Policy. Prioritising support for parents and shared care, these Parental Leave Policy updates further strengthen Endeavour Energy’s commitment to providing a safe and inclusive workplace and underpin the organisation’s agile response to the increased focus on employment growth and retention in the energy sector.

Endeavour Energy’s General Manager, People, Culture and Transformation, Melissa Irwin, says these progressive changes are in recognition of the support Endeavour’s people deserve to balance their work and family life, while maintaining a fulfilling and rewarding career.

“Families have always played an important role at Endeavour Energy, and we know that no one family is the same. As a certified Family Inclusive Workplace™, we’re proud to be recognised as a leader in workplace inclusion and family support and these positive changes to our Parental Leave Policy solidify our leadership in this space.

“We’re proud to lead the way within the energy industry in NSW by offering inclusive family support, joining the ranks of some of Australia’s most forward-thinking corporate employers, such as KPMG and PwC.

“As part of the Parental Leave Policy updates, we’ve moved away from primary and secondary carer labels to better support shared care and encourage both parents to take the opportunity to bond with their families during those early months and years.

“As the electricity network that supplies power to over 2.7 million people living and working in Sydney’s Greater West, the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and the South Coast of NSW, our customers rely on us to support their daily lives and livelihoods. Coupled with being one of the biggest employers in Western Sydney, we’re pleased these policy updates will offer so many local parents and shared care families with the support they deserve to enjoy life’s special moments,” said Ms Irwin.

Under the updated Parental Leave Policy, Endeavour Energy will provide up to 26 weeks (six months) of paid Parental Leave to eligible employees for leave associated with:

  • The birth of a child by the employee or their partner; or
  • The adoption or placement via long-term foster care by the employee or their partner, of a child who is an eligible child at the date of the adoption or placement.

In addition, Endeavour Energy is offering paid superannuation on unpaid portions of Parental Leave taken by eligible employees, as well as paid leave for appointments and procedures associated with fertility treatment.
