Should I register for life support?

If you or someone living with you requires electricity for the use of medical equipment, you should contact us or your energy retailer to register life support at your premises.

Who is eligible to be registered for life support?

If you or someone living with you requires medical equipment dependent on electricity, then you should contact us or your energy retailer to register life support at your premises.

If you rely on any of the following equipment you are an eligible life support customer:

  • an oxygen concentrator
  • an intermittent peritoneal dialysis machine
  • a kidney dialysis machine
  • a chronic positive airways pressure respirator
  • crigler najjar syndrome phototherapy equipment
  • a ventilator for life support
  • any other equipment that a registered medical practitioner certifies as required for life support.

Other equipment may include but are not limited to:

  • external heart pumps
  • suction cups (respiratory or gastric)
  • feeding pumps (kangaroo pump, or total parenteral nutrition )
  • insulin pumps
  • airbed vibrator
  • hot water
  • nebulizer, humidifiers or vaporizers
  • apnoea machine/monitors
  • medically required heating or air conditioning
  • medically required refrigeration
  • powered wheelchair

To register, please contact us on 131 003 and we will immediately register your household as dependent on life support equipment in our systems and notify your electricity retailer.
