SOUTH COAST WIND STORM - Wednesday 25 June 4pm
Endeavour Energy emergency crews have restored power to around 10,000 customers throughout the day which is great progress given the winds have not abated.
A further 9,900 customers remain without power across the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and the South Coast.
We have almost 390 electrical hazards we need to send our crews to inspect, make safe and then repair. We’ve cancelled all planned maintenance so we can focus our efforts on the repair work.
The worst affected areas are in St Georges Basin, Jamberoo, Erowal Bay, South Nowra, Hyams Beach, Berry, Windang and Sanctuary Point with scattered damage all along the coast and into the Southern Highlands.
Given the scale of the damage, we do expect some customers will remain without power overnight and thank customers for their patience.
Where we have customers mobile numbers, we will sms them with estimated restoration times. We ask customers to make plans now that best suit their circumstances. If the wind drops overnight, we expect to safely restore customers by around 4pm tomorrow.
We’d like to thank customers for their patience and understanding.
