Power update - Wednesday 2 July 4:30pm

Endeavour Energy emergency crews are continuing around-the-clock efforts to assess and repair widespread damage caused by destructive winds that swept through the Shoalhaven, Illawarra, South Coast, Blue Mountains, and Western Sydney regions.

With wind gusts exceeding 120 km/h in some areas, the storm has disrupted power to nearly 30,000 homes and businesses and created over 400 electrical hazards requiring repair.

Our crews will be working into the night to restore power, with a focus on reconnecting the approximately 8,000 customers still without supply.

In areas where damage is particularly severe or access remains restricted, restoration of power supply will need to be completed tomorrow.

With damaging winds forecast to persist over the next 24 hours, further outages and additional damage to the network may occur.

We encourage all affected customers to make preparations appropriate to their individual needs.

SMS updates with estimated restoration times and safety advice will continue to be sent to customers where we have their mobile contact details.

We sincerely thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding during this challenging time. Our top priority remains the safety of our communities and restoring power as quickly and safely as possible.
