REF Consultation Protocol

Endeavour Energy can assess and self-determine the development of its electricity network infrastructure after undertaking proper environmental assessment and community consultation.

As part of the lease of Endeavour Energy’s network to private interests, the NSW Government has developed the NSW Code of Practice for Authorised Network Operators to confirm how we conduct assessments under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The Code provides how Endeavour Energy must exercise its assessment and self‑determination powers under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 when conducting environmental assessments.

For the purpose of electricity transmission or distribution, this allows Endeavour Energy to assess and self-determine activities after proper environmental assessment and community consultation.

Consultation Protocol for Review of Environmental Factors for Class 4 and 5 activities

The Code of Practice requires Endeavour Energy to publish a consultation protocol setting out the process to be followed when conducting environmental impact assessments for the Class 4 and 5 activities.

With specific reference to the requirements outlined in the Code, the Protocol documents the processes Endeavour Energy follows when conducting assessments and consultation with the community and government agencies for Class 4 and 5 activities.

The Protocol involves aspects of our existing policies and procedures which have been used to confirm effective stakeholder consultation when preparing Reviews of Environmental Factors.
