What to do in an emergency

If the power unexpectedly goes out in your home, and losing power to your device would cause a medical emergency, go to a hospital immediately. If you can’t get to a hospital, dial triple zero (000) and ask for an ambulance. 

If you need electricity to charge your medical device, and it’s not an immediate emergency, please exhaust all other options first. Emergency services are usually busy during power outage events and, unless it is a life-threatening medical emergency, may not be available to help you. 

The best way to be prepared for an unexpected power outage is to have a backup plan.

Prepare a back-up plan in case of a power outage

We urge all medical support customers to be prepared. This could be as simple as having important information on hand, including names, addresses and telephone numbers of your doctor, the nearest hospital, a neighbour, or someone nearby who is willing to assist you. 

If we plan any work that affects you, we will notify you in writing at least four business days ahead of time. You will receive the date, time and duration of the scheduled interruption.
