Powering Communities Grants Program

We support STEM and educational programs that help children and young people learn new skills, build confidence and see what’s possible for their future.

We focus on activities that:

• Help kids learn by doing, not just by reading or listening
• Make STEM learning accessible to more students, no matter where they live or what their background is
• Show young people how science and technology connect to real jobs and real life, including future energy careers

This includes things like:

• Providing schools with hands‑on learning resources and equipment
• Supporting fun, practical workshops and learning activities
• Helping connect students with mentors and pathways into future study or work

We help local communities be better prepared before, during and after extreme weather or other disruptions.​

Our focus is on practical support that:​

• Helps people know what to do and who to turn to in an emergency​
• Gives communities the tools and information they need to stay safe, informed and connected​
• Supports recovery and getting back on their feet after an event​

This includes things like:​

• Supplying shared emergency kits and equipment for community use​
• Supporting education and information programs that help people prepare​
• Local initiatives that strengthen community resilience

We support local initiatives that help communities care for their environment, use energy more wisely, and build more sustainable neighbourhoods - now and into the future.​

• Help people avoid and reduce waste and make the most of local resources​
• Support communities to learn about sustainable practices and lower their carbon footprint​
• Strengthen local connection, pride and care for place and help new communities thrive​
• Protect and restore the natural environment that communities value​

• Educational programs that help households understand and use clean energy​
• Local art and cultural projects that bring people and nature together​
• Habitat restoration and conservation activities that protect local environments
