Major repair efforts are underway across the Endeavour Energy network following severe gale-force winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, which caused power outages to 62,256 customers and resulted in over 250 fault sites, including fallen powerlines and trees impacting the network.
Overnight, crews worked to patrol and make safe damaged overhead powerlines and power poles, restoring power to 42,864 customers. This morning, 19, 392 customers remain without power, with power outages remaining across parts of the Hawkesbury, Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Planned maintenance works, with the exception of a small number of critical jobs, have been postponed to maximise resources for restoration efforts. Storm response centres have been activated to coordinate crews and restore power to customers as quickly and safely as possible. Crews are working to restore power to as many customers as possible, however some customers may remain with out power into tomorrow. See out outage map for live updates.
Endeavour Energy thanks customers for their patience and understanding, particularly on Father's Day, as crews continue working to restore power. Customers are reminded to exercise caution and stay at least eight metres away from any fallen or damaged powerlines and to report them immediately by calling 131 003.
We have also advised life support customers to act on their emergency back up plans and encourage them to make arrangements that suit their personal circumstances.
Customer safety
- Treat all powerlines as 'live' and dangerous by keeping at least 8m clear of them. Never drive across fallen powerlines
- Avoid all contact with wires that are hanging low, or on the ground or tangled in trees
- If using portable generators, please ensure they are located outside of your home and well away from open windows to avoid deadly exhaust fumes entering your home
- Generators should never be connected to switchboards unless there is an isolation switch installed by a licensed electrician. This is to avoid sending electricity back up powerlines and making isolated parts of the network dangerous for workers and the broader community.
