Endeavour Energy crews, supported by additional resources from Canberra’s Evoenergy , continue to repair widespread storm damage and restore power to customers following severe and damaging winds across Western Sydney, the Hawkesbury and the Blue Mountains.

Crews have safely restored power to 75% of customers since the storm hit and are continuing to make damaged areas safe, assess damage and restore electricity supply as quickly and safely as possible. We thank Evoenergy and all assisting crews for their support during this significant restoration effort.

As of 1pm, 10,415 customers remain without power with crews responding to significant damage across the network, including broken power poles, fallen powerlines and damaged electrical equipment.

Given the scale of the damage and the large number of hazards that must be made safe before repairs can proceed, some customers may remain without power until tomorrow while crews complete repairs and mandatory safety inspections.

The severe weather has brought down trees and powerlines across a number of areas, creating dangerous conditions. Customers are urged to stay at least eight metres away from any fallen, hanging or damaged powerlines, including wires tangled in trees, branches or other debris. If you see a fallen powerline, treat it as live and dangerous and report it immediately by calling 131 003, or 000 if there is an immediate threat to life or property.

Customers who rely on electricity to power medical equipment should activate their emergency backup plans and make alternative arrangements that suit their personal circumstances.

Customer safety

  • Treat all powerlines as 'live' and dangerous by keeping at least 8m clear of them. Never drive across fallen powerlines
  • Avoid all contact with wires that are hanging low, or on the ground or tangled in trees
  • If using portable generators, please ensure they are located outside of your home and well away from open windows to avoid deadly exhaust fumes entering your home
  • Generators should never be connected to switchboards unless there is an isolation switch installed by a licensed electrician. This is to avoid sending electricity back up powerlines and making isolated parts of the network dangerous for workers and the broader community.
