Connect supply or relocate assets
Find out how to connect load or generation to a new or existing supply.
Applying for a connection service
Connecting to the Endeavour Energy network has never been easier. We offer a range of new connection services. You can also apply to relocate electricity assets or attach third party assets on our assets.
All applications are made online through our Connections Portal.
Connection of load
Who can use this
Use this if you’re connecting a new home or small business, changing from single phase to three phase, or you're adding more power to an existing place (including small strata jobs). If your job is a basic connection, you can often get an instant Permission to Connect after you apply online.
Our eligibility requirements for a basic connection offer are:
- Your maximum demand for electricity is no greater than 100 amps (single phase) or 63 amps (three phase)
- Your land must be registered and zoned as urban by your local council
- You are connecting up to four strata units that meet the above requirements
What you need
- A retailer, who will help set up your meter and can give you your National Meter Identifier (NMI)
- A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP2), who usually does the service work for basic low-voltage jobs
What happens next
Accept the offer and your ASP and/or retailer will organise the on-site work and metering. You can track things in the Connections Portal.
Subdivision of land (Torrens or Community title)
Who can use this
Use this if you’re creating new lots (that are not strata developments). Councils usually ask for a Notification of Arrangement (NOA) from Endeavour Energy, to show power has been arranged. We issue the NOA after you have met our requirements and pay the fees.
Early NOA (to help register plans faster)
We may issue an early NOA when around 80% of the network has been built and you have given a bank guarantee for 100% of the construction cost (based on your Level 1 Accredited Service Provider (ASP1) quote).
Land interests (easements and access)
When subdividing, required land interests must appear on the plan and be approved by Endeavour Energy before we issue the NOA.
Connect a generator (solar, batteries and other systems)
Who can use this
Use this if you’re adding or increasing solar system, solar battery or another generator.
Fast-track micro systems
If your site is already connected and your total inverter size is lower than 10 kW (single phase) or lower than 30 kW (three phase), you can apply online and often get instant Permission to Connect. Your inverter must meet AS 4777.
After you connect
Installers must enter the system in the AEMO’s DER register, using the reference on your Permission to Connect letter.
Flexible exports (where available)
In eligible areas, flexible exports can allow exports of up to 10kW, about 95% of the time, which helps you share more solar with the grid.
Larger systems
Small and medium embedded generators need a detailed assessment because they can affect other customers. However, systems that are 5MW and above, follow a staged, negotiated process, with technical studies and fees.
Remove or relocate our equipment (poles, cables, etc.)
Who can use this
Use this if you’re building or changing something and you need our assets moved or removed (for safety clearances, street layout changes, visual impact and so on).
How it works
If your application is accepted, we’ll give you an offer for a standard connection. Developers fund and arrange the design and construction under the contestable works framework. You’ll also need to provide enough detail (in the form of plans and/or sketches) as part of your application.
Easements
Releasing a registered easement needs a separate agreement, as well as an assessment of the easement’s value to the network.
Connect public lighting
Who can use this
Use this if you’re a council or developer who wants to add or change public streetlights on our network. We operate more than 200,000 streetlights for councils and other authorities, while also managing service levels under the NSW Public Lighting Code and our Public Lighting Management Plan.
Repairs
We aim to repair faults in about eight business days (on average). If repairs take too long, you may be eligible for a $25 payment (conditions apply).
Special services and facilities access (small public supplies)
Who can use this
Use this if you need small supplies in public places, such as bus shelters, public toilets, phones, comms cabinets or locality signs. Installations must follow the Service and Installation Rules of NSW.
Metered vs unmetered
Metered small special services are used when the load is over 5 amps single phase, or the amperage can’t be accurately assessed. You will also need to set up a retailer account and get an NMI.
Unmetered small special services are used for small loads, where load and duty cycle are known (e.g. Type 7 market small special services, like traffic signals, which AEMO must approve/register).
Connect an embedded network (shopping centres, villages, offices)
Who can use this
Use this if you’re an embedded network operator, connecting a private network with one main metering point (the parent/gate NMI) which supplies internal customers (child NMIs). Endeavour Energy registers the parent code with the AEMO and links on-market child NMIs to it.
How it works
Many simple jobs can be approved immediately after you lodge your online application. However, if your job needs a connection offer for a basic or standard service, you should know that offers usually stay open for 45 business days. Though, if the Model Standing Offer terms apply to you, you can request an expedited connection.
